Mar. 6th, 2026 11:55 am The thing with stomach flu (or whatever) is that they recommend bland carbs, and i'm wondering if maybe gluten isn't my best friend anymore?
IDK.
I was pretty sick Monday night thru all of tuesday, still dehydrated and low-grade fever wed, and my guts are still not quite right as of friday. (lots of bubbling/growling). I'm taking OTC stuff like pepto or mylanta. I stopped by dollar gen for 'microwave rice' for lunch today; they didn't have that, and i didn't want mashed potato, so we'll try beef stew (potato, veg, beef). I'm also not sure whether it's a lactose thing, so I'm trying to eliminate that too for now - but coffee ;(. (And dollar gen didn't have non-dairy-creamer that I wanted; the powderstuff is gross, and the silk milk seemed like there was too much of it.). And I shouldn't drink much coffee during tummy recovery in these trying times anyway.
There was a moment when i celebrated having a fever tho, because I realized that i could be preggers, but no! preggers doesn't usually include shaking chills and fever! woohoo! (Gah, I should keep an eye on that anyway.)
I had an advisor in grad school who yelled that I was 'shooting from the hip' all the time. Between her and a 'think before you send angry emails' lesson, and probably some other shit, I had a story in my head that I'm impulsive.
I think the truth is, kinda/sometimes, but I had to laugh because anka asked if we wanted to look at houses in a different town, and it took me 3 paragraphs and an hour to answer that.
I have impulsive moments, sure, but usually I've already laid out the limits and if I'm within them I can just go for it. I'm usually really cautious/deliberate about defining acceptable parameters first though (for example: buying a car after mom died. I kind of just went with it, but it was in the cost range I had in mind, was generally a good vehicle, and although it didn't have some silly features, I didn't want to screw around thinking about it for a while.
I guess a surefire way to tell is if I read a quiz that says 'are you impulsive?' and I spend an hour anyalzing and contemplating the answer.....
it's probably not a duck
