i need to stop rounding my birthdays
Nov. 6th, 2023 09:42 amFor some reason I kept thinking I'd be turning 43 but then I did my math again and realized I was only turning 42. For a month I revelled in 'i'm only 41 right now'.
But as of yesterday I'm 42, which is apparently the answer to the ultimate question about life the universe and everything. I am fine with this especially since I had a weird mental schema of age numbers.
The weekend Was. I did have a lovely brunch with friends, then in the afternoon had to do a thing for humane society/work and then rotary raffle - I left early, citing kid bedtime. As in, I left around 8:15 pm. They didn't need me, I was tired, kid was tired and asking about bedtime.
Birthday itself: dan brought me coffee in bed and invited me to read and hide as much as I wanted; then he was going to take me to brunch but meg wanted to take me to bakery and we were okay with both but meg had a weird meltdown about it so dan and i just ...went to brunch. And apparently we were supposed to bring her bacon and a croissant but a) I forgot about the bacon and b) couldn't find any croissants. So she was salty and grumptastic most of the day.
My mom did birthday things for me - cake, ice cream, and a few cute presents - but meg was mad that ty wasn't even paying attention to the presents, and neither kid did anything, which was kind of disappointing as I'd kept saying MY BIRTHDAY IS COMING UP and I'm feeling like I needed a little appreciation. Oh well. Ty told me a nice thing out loud, dan brought me coffee in bed, and meg wanted to avenge me for ty not paying attention to me, so I am appreciated, in their own special ways.
That's about it! I did, however, get to take a nap, play a video game, read, watch x-files, and after dealing with Pharmacy did a bit of shopping but only got a nice sweater. (Online shopping I've been on a rampage: I got xmas light lasers from wayfair, and an adventure calendar from fresh cut paper, and I think I got two cute shirts and a slouchy beanie hat from zulily. And the blue-light glasses, tatters the mummy, and another fire stick, all from amazon.)
