- my work macbook kept using too much System Data and trying to quit its life, so we transitioned to a PC we use for a specific purpose, so I'm using that going torward. Excel crashed, and I don't have printers yet, but otherwise it's going ok. I mostly got myself set up though I doubt it's very ergonomic! Biggest thing is to use "ctrl" and not the command key (or, windows key, since I used a pc keyboard with my macbook and it didn't have the button.)
- Major Work this weekend:
- Brother visited to help Clean Out mom's storage unit. It was great to have him visit.
- I had to try not to be annoyed because half the stuff was his anyway and a lot of it was comic books and he was kind of fixated on which of those he could keep and which might be moldy. So you know "yours mine and ours?" There was literally one box of 'mine,' there was a lot of 'his," and a lot of "ours." So i'm going through photo albums, mom's binders, grandma's college report cards, and he's carefully putting comics in sleeves and bemoaning how much money he spent on these things. I'm not ACTUALLY annoyed at him, there are all kinds of reasons for him to work on that stuff and for me to work on the shared stuff, but enough to write about it here in my journal where I don't have to be very fair and understanding.
- He's having all these big emotional reactions to the photo albums and mom's stuff, right, and I can see that, and give him space for it to an extent, but also mom lived in my house, so I've been dealing with that for a year. It both means 'be patient with him, because he's not desensitized' and it also means 'goddammit how do you think i feel having had to do this for a year.'
- I got to a point where my brain/heart just said NOPE, no more photo albums or binders, that's it, I'm done, I can't do Any More Photo Albums, I don't care how wonderful they are, and I hung out for a while and he said I could go relax for a while'; I did, then felt guilty and returned with a coffee, and goddammit he's like "i really think you should take these too. And these." ARGH.
- Otherwise, it was great to see him and for him to play mariokart with my kids. He was only here for about 48 hours, but hey, that's how it goes! We got along well and laughed. He talked work too much and did too much talking/not enough listening in general, but c'est la vie.
- Next steps are work with photo copmany to digitize all the scrapbooks/photo albums. If I'm going to be the Keeper at least I can get that done. Yes, I am throwing away some photo albums. I already have 40, I don't need another 10. I feel like I hit most of our eras, including 2 sets of slides from grandma's travel to asia in 1968.
- Also I sent in a quote request for a cleanout for the remainder.
- Found my great-great (i think) grandfather's history of the family (on the maternal side) and added what I could to my ancestry thing. I should share some of my discoveries from that in here at another time (reminder to self: rev war, civ war, ministry, and oat thresher.)

- Some time I will meditate about being The Keeper and how different female relatives end up doing that
- Roommate closed on her houses! Has begun prepping to paint! Is all very good. Super cool place.
- Our two wildflower pits from alst year didn't grow this year so Dan encouraged me to plan & design two REAL beds with mulch etc, and I did about 1/3 of the work on that. Planned, shopped & planted a little, but still need a few more things & all the mulch.
- Whew!
- Ty is getting 'some kind' of scholarship because they are strongly encouraging us to attend senior night and literally said in the invite 'your senior will be recognized.' It might be $500, it might be a certificate, it might be more. Who knows.
