am I allowed to take it easy for a bit?
Dec. 20th, 2023 11:18 amcuz here's the thing: I misplaced my wallet, and absolutely needed it for a) driving legally, b) getting gas, and c) picking up work-related items including but not limited to Event Supplies, stuff for displaced student, and workplace gift exchange.
Drove to office, looked for wallet, went back home, looked for wallet, retraced my steps really clearly, looked in the car twice, and finally found it wrapped up in my new scarf on the passenger seat under my backpack. So that's no wonder I couldn't find it, and also a fairly reasonable place for it to be. I had scanned my driver's license, put it back in wallet on desk, and probably had it and scarf bundled in my hand on the way out Monday night.
So then: Dollar General trip for all the above, then the high school to drop off supplies for a thing they're doing, a quick chat/visit, bought another holiday gift from the popup shop my son helped prepare, and then to the office. Except I saw the high school van at the food shelf (attached to our office) and wondered if my kid was over there packing grocereies today like he does on wednesdays, and he wasn't, but the site coordinator was there all alone (one kid is not attending school , my kid is in the Candy Cane Olympics, and the other kid is helping with the Popup shop!) so I helped her for a few minutes.
I'm at my desk, finally feel like I'm making headway to help that one family as much as i 'should' (not too much or too little), and am taking a moment to breathe. I want to do some of my event preparations but guess what - it's bonus extra stuff that's simply fun for me to do. So that means I feel like I shouldn't do it.
Oh well. I'll see what else is "Urgent!! Mayday!!" and then do my 12:30 meeting and then I'll probably do the Fun Stuff. Some of it needs to get done, and some of it is me being extra, and this is also how I'll avoid burnout.
