Oct. 26th, 2023 02:04 pm If you take dayquil and are almost human but still coughing and spacey, and it's 2023, are you still too sick for work?
This morning my body and brain said oh Helllllllllll no about working and after driving kid to school (and realizing I didn't have great reaction time and that was dumb) I came home and fell asleep again within minutes. for about 4 hours.
I did have enough time to put in a half-day sick day before I involuntarily took a nap!`
I can't quite figure out the office people: they say "work remotely" and I think there might be a wink. Like, when I worked a saturday, they told me to work remotely on friday and there was a definitely implied wink there.
Yesterday I went in and they said GO HOME. Here's the thing, my jobs haven't been remote friendly, so when they tell me go home and rest and call it remote, and I am literally going to take a nap and maybe answer 2 emails, how do I track that time?
Today, since I was like 'no way in hell am I doin anything but sleeping this morning' I figured a half-day sick was only proper. Right now I did SOME work, after the dayquil and coffee kicked in. Am I doing 4 hours worth of it? DOUBT
Like, Dan's been working from home since like 2017, and he is GLUED to his desk with minor exceptions. However, very smart reasonable people realize: if you get the work done, does it matter if you take a nap or do laundry when home?
So this is the thing where I'm trying to adjust to the Current Era and I don't quite get what the rules are. Oh well. I'll aim somewhere in the middle.
