So now I've had the same boss for a month or so and have had to Adjust and I don't think I'm going to randomly get fired anytime soon. I'm making progress on All The Things and can't do everything and that's okay. It's also okay if people get annoyed with me about whatever I think they're annoyed about (there's a timesheet thing and an annoying other situation that I'm tangentially involved in). Anyway people can be annoyed in my direction and theyll get over it.
One thing I'm realizing with my mom and my daughter --- we expect people to know what they're doing, so when we're disappointed we assume it's an intentional thing. Like at the beach my mom was put out because we didn't go to the car for swim gear because we were walking the other direction, which ulitmately led to a swim zone -- man, I don't know. I'm winging it, sorry!
Our relationship is weird because since my mom lives in my house and perceives me as Capable she expects me to Be In Charge plus she thinks I enjoy it. Nah, mom, I'm just generally ABLE to make decisions more quickly. Plus, i THINK she wants me to like take her side over my daughters when they're being children to each other, and unfortunately that's generally not going to happen.
Similarly, Meg gets really freaked out when I don't seem to know what I'm doing. Like when I have to turn around when navigating.
Anyway my point is that we often ascribe mottives when there aren't any/
