It turns out my family has a genetic thingy that predisposes us for pulmonary fibrosis. Like, my super healthy aunt died of that + complications from lung transplant in 2016. Of my remaining aunts and uncles, one aunt has it and is on light oxygen, and one uncle has it and come to find out is now hospitalized awaiting lungs. The other 2 remaining aunts have been visiting off and on.

By the way, it's interesting in a morbid way that of my dad's 8 siblings half are still With Us.

My mom is pondering zipping down to see Chris & Michelle & Mikey and that opens up the possibility of getting to Uncle Johnny.

They're saying weeks-or-months to live without the fresh new lungs. Chris is going into UberIntense mode about 'we must immediately visit because we may run out of time.' One thing I do with a stress-response is to move more slowly and deliberately (I mostly remember this when the kids were born and when calling ambulance for dad).

The thing is that it's a 10 hour drive back home (southwest) and another 2 to Columbus (south).

I am kinda kicking around the idea of visiting during spring break, since our rental house goes through monday or tuesday.

So I'm doing the Planes, Trains, Automobiles calculus of getting from "here"-ish to there. (Direct flights daily to Columbus from Philadelphia, where my cousins live, which is only 6 hours away. :/ )

I am well aware that when we moved out here, part of it was to run from the shattering that had happened without my dad and aunt joan. part of it was to run from what people expected of me. part of it was to run toward land that is always beautiful, all the time, and relatively unpolluted, and resilient to climate change. part of it was to run from a Red State to a Blue State but again, our trajectory was off on that one.

Then I found out about another school shooting and saw my financial guy posted something about the president capitalizing on tragedy to advance his agenda.

So i'm sad mad about all of that.
