SELF CARE PROGRESS

Third time was the charm re: telehealth therapy!  If you've seen Nadiya Bakes (or GBBO's Nadiya) that's sort of what my lady was like.  So awkward to get started because I don't want to complain to a total stranger and I want to Think Positive.    And honestly i was in a good mood at that moment - but the mental 'argh' is just beneath the surface anyway.

Practical tips. More than I can implement but that's part of it.  "Make a to do list and an On Hold list because you can't do everything."  

"Give your husband 3 specific things to do. And trust him. Remind him if he needs it, but let him do it."

And she says coffee on the porch is self care :)

Also, a thing:
I did go get xrays on Friday and we'll see if they tell us anything.  I didn't work and sit at a desk today so it's better.  I'm also discovering my eyes don't go together as well when I'm tired -- one gets lazy or something. So I went out yesterday to get crafty stuff (a notebook for ty, a journaling kit and latchhook kit for meg, a chalkboard and caddy for me for the kids' Play Club so I could write some 'cleanup' rules.)  By the time i found what i was looking for i was hot and tired and  my eyes and neck hurt and i was queasy from that.  So I'm glad I'm TRYING to take care of neck stuff. I need to find my 'new' glasses so my eyes can relax when they want to drift.

So, ew.  That kinda sucks.

Today, bein father's day, i tried to make it special without overdoing it, and also i had a car appointment to get a trailer hitch  - or so i THOUGHT.  Honestly i think the 800 number people for uhaul didn't send it through right. I KNOW I had the right day and right place, and I wasn't on the schedule. Because after i got off the phone i was like 'on father's day huh.'  And there are only 2 locations by me, it's possible I remembered the location wrong, but unlikely.   

Since it's a 40 minute drive (to either location) and since the one we were going to was near a pretty lake, I asked dan to drive me and then we could all chill at the lake while they worked on the car.  

But they didn't have my appointment and you guys, I ... said "I need you to do this today.  Your phone doesn't work so I couldn't call and confirm. I drove 40 minutes. I've been on hold to talk to someone more than an hour to get the appointment. I wouldn't even need the appointment if the part was right.  " I didn't yell but i had crazy eye. :( I made the clerk stutter :(   OMG.  They weren't sure they could do it, they had 3 other appointments, and I conceded the wiring because i just need to get this done.

Actually it all worked out - the beach was lovely if a bit muddy, and hot, and SUNNY (we're burned even thru sumblock) and they literally called just as we were leaving the beach and it was done.  And the manager was nice. And the clerk was not traumatized but I know I wasn't ihs favorite.

I felt bad about it, though. So i guess that's why i don't 'stand up for myself' more often.  I am sort of proud that I insisted. I don't think I was mean, I was firm and I thanked them, and made polite chat.  But i was intense and probably scary.  I mentioned it has been a JOURNEY to get this done.
