chaos & kindness almost
May. 17th, 2021 09:36 amthere's this band here in New Hampsha called Chaos and Kindness and they have a motto 'crush the f*ck' wherein The Fck is everything that brings you down.
The phrase comes from a 3 year old getting 'good luck' and 'crush it' mixed up (crush da fuck!) and giggling.
'i've since used this phrase not to expose the language but as a phrase to help me overcome my anxiety and fear of failure. It makes no sense but at the same time makes all the sense in the world.'
it's monday, and it was a delightful weekend with a couple moments of angst but mostly sunshine, flowers and pollen. the angst was both me & meg feeling 'ack can't waste the weekend' but i was able to say to her that rest, recovery and relax isn't a waste and after awhile started to believe it for myself too.
the other angst is that meg is a snuggly 8, and she still hums or makes a happy little noise when eating something delicious. she's still a child, I'm saying. And Ty is 13 and hangs out in his room all day, very happily. I miss him, so i'll try to make an effort to go to him, but also he's happy. But i do hope I got to enjoy him as an 8 year old, too.
But otherwise, i think my mom had the best birthday ever (farmers market, and afternoon by the pool, and burgers) and I had fun with her and with my Gardenings.
Garden time: It is 90% certain we're done with frost! I'm willing to risk it although I'd regret that statement later.
From Seed: lettuce, peas, cucumber, morning glory, nasturtium, cosmos, lupine, sunflower, marigold. Some of these are cruising along, some we just planted this weekend.
Seedlings this weekend: heirloom tomato, summer squash and canteloupe (from a roadside stand! but what was i thinking, i can't grow squash/lope), bell pepper, black-edged clover (with bonus 4 leafs) for a pathway and you can walk on it, and a sedum and dead-nettle for the hillside. Also some velvety black pansies, basil, dill, and a snapdragon.
And i got swiss chard a few weeks ago that's pretty healthy and some more annuals that are happy - lobelia, and purple alyssum.
Cruisin, i say.
two more things of note - seems like a busy weekend at my museum and people were happy. AND we've been watching Shadow&Bone, but nearly done with it :(
