holy craaaaaaaap

so i hugged a united states congressman this morning, he's a nice dude.

I mean, seriously. Having met a few politicians now - they really do CARE about people and I've been so impressed. Of course they'd be pleasant in person or they wouldn't be elected, I guess.

That's not the holy crap thing, though.

The holy crap thing is
a) finished week one of summer camp shenanigans - the one we run, and the one my daughter's going to, and the one my son is going to. week one is basically in the books. The one I'm in charge of was Pretty Darn Good and my kids are doing fine, but Ty's got immune system issues.

b) My personal nemesis consultant got a job offer this week that she accepted. I offloaded the 'Hard Talk' to someone else, who delayed a bit for his own reasons, and ... in the meanwhile, we had to launch camp, and then she got the offer. So we don't look like the bad guy unless i accidentally say something snarky. She is going to help us with the transition which is not the worst thing in the world. She's just shitty under pressure.

c) it's really pretty out

d) I'm exHAUSTED

e) i still got some work to do for 2 hours then i'm leaving just a bit early.

trusting intuition/being right

i said a few days ago that being right is pretty cool because i doubt myself a lot, and when my intuition is right it's extra cool.


So now that i'm listening to my gut/instinct/intution more, I'm hearing it more. Obvs. I just wanted to note two main things:
a) we did predict annoying consultant would snap at a volunteer :( we solved it though
b) i really love that my gut said to wait and outsource the consultant thing because that allowed other things to happen in a better way
c) i keep hearing about transportation/worker mobility/etc in different flavors so I'm listening for that in my life. I'm on the 2 transportation boards and met with some guys talking about smart roads and that's pretty cool. So that's like a 3rd or 4th occurence of "pay attention to this" kind of thing.
