doing The Things, at least a little.

One thing I'm trying - today and yesterday, at least - is to write down the 'i did it' tasks in my planner, as well as the the to-do tasks.  Some shit I don't need to write down to remember, but trying to write that it's done, may help me feel better in general.

The other thing I'm trying (and nOT succeeding at) is to pre-plan my free-time a little more than i have been doing.  "Oh well" if i don't get to it, i guess. I was just thinking about the weekend:  Thursday the 4th is empty, the 5th we have things to do, and the 6th/7th are empty.

if it ends up being a hang out around the house weekend, that's probably okay, but i'd like to offer an alternative.

dan's always like LETS TAKE THE KIDS TO A TRAIL OR A MOUNTAIN  and they are NOT into it, and then he doesn't get why I have to make a big deal of getting a picnic to do such a thing

edit -
I'm rereading Terry Pratchett (free ones on Kindle Unlimited!) and right now I'm on Equal Rites.  Granny Weatherwax keeps talking about 'headology.'  That's the thing, mi amor: Dan forgets to use headology with the kids.  Like, to get them to do a thing they're not really into, you HAVE to pair it with something they like, AND you have to keep it quick enough that you go out on a high note.  This method does not always work, and sometimes straightforwardness works anyway, but instead of 'let's go on a hike' saying 'let's have a cookie party on a mountain' works better. it just does.
